The City of Las Cruces’ Patriot Day Ceremony was held Monday morning, Sept. 11, at Veterans Memorial Park. The event included a flag-raising ceremony (with the flag then lowered to half-staff), the laying of the wreath, a three-volley salute, a bell ceremony and an honor guard.

After it was raised during the Patriot Day Ceremony, the American flag was lowered to half-staff in honor of the nearly 3,000 people, including about 400 policemen and firemen, who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
