Border Artists show continues at Arts Council

Posted

“The Border Artists” exhibition continues through Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020, at the Doña Ana Arts Council Arts and Cultural Center, 1740 Calle de Mercado in the Bulletin Plaza.

Seventeen artists working in a range of media are participating in the show taking place in memory of late Border Artists member Tom Gerend.

The organization was founded in the late 1980s “as a way of increasing visibility and recognition for the work of a group of fine artists in southern New Mexico,” according its website. It organized as a nonprofit in 1995. There are 20 active members and several signature members, including painters, ceramic sculptors, potters, stone sculptors, photographers, printmakers and mixed-media artists. Membership is by invitation.
