Club 30 inside the Ramada offers a place to unwind and enjoy the nightlife

LAS CRUCES - Those who enjoy partying late into the night in a friendly environment can look for the new night club inside The Ramada Hotel & Conference Center by Wyndham, 201 E. University Ave.

Club 30 @ The Ramada, featuring a full bar, dance floor, seating area, big-screen TVs and an outdoor patio, officially opened on June 5 with the hope of attracting both locals and hotel guests visiting from out of town. The club occupies the space most recently known as Lavish Ultra Lounge.

“When people come here – hotel guests – they don’t differentiate between the hotel, the restaurant, the nightclub, so we all work very hard together to provide a complete experience that’s going to make them happy and say, ‘This is a great place,’” Ramada Palms General Manager Keith Martin said. “We want this to be a destination, and it is for a lot of people.”

At the same time, Club 30 is a place where locals can gather, unwind and feel welcomed.

“It’s like ‘Cheers,’” Club 30 manager Laurie Freilino said. “You come in and everybody is greeted …You’re greeted by the staff from the moment you walk in the door, from our bouncers to our bartenders to just customers.”

Freilino, former co-owner of The Warehouse Bar (once Hurricane Alley) on Missouri Avenue, said Club 30 has already become a go-to place for customers who were regulars at The Warehouse Bar before it closed earlier this year, in March.

“A lot of them followed us here,” Freilino said. “They were so happy that they had another place to come to because it’s the same vibe.”

Las Cruces resident Fermin Corral, who recently stopped by Club 30 for a drink during Happy Hour, said he visits the club once a week on Thursdays.

“I like the atmosphere,” Corral said. “It’s closer to (my) house and people here are real friendly. It’s like a family-type [bar] – calm, mellow, and it’s a nice place to come relax for a while.”

One of the unique aspects of Club 30 is that each day of the week is a different theme.

Hot Mess Monday is karaoke night; Two Dollar Tuesday features $2 beers and $2 tacos; Wine and Wings Wednesday features $3 glasses of wine and free wings with each drink purchase; Thirsty Thursday features a DJ with music catered towards the college crowd; Friday (the club’s busiest night) is Spanish Night, featuring Tejano bands; Saturday primarily features Country music, but it can vary.

In addition, the club hosts regular events, including live music, comedy shows and drag shows.

Happy Hour is 4-8 p.m. daily, with wells and domestics $3 (except Tuesday, when they are $2).

“One nice thing about Happy Hour is when people come in here and sit at the bar, sometimes they’ll come in by themselves or with a couple of people, but [the bartenders] will take requests,” Martin said. “We’ll play their song and their video – everybody loves it.”

Club 30 carries a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, ranging from wine and mixed drinks to imported and domestic beers, including New Mexico beers.

There’s also a full menu and daily special served by the hotel’s Las Palmas Grill from 5-10 p.m. Monday-Saturday. The kitchen is closed Sunday.

Martin and Freilino said Club 30, open until 2 a.m. Monday-Saturday, has quickly become the hot spot to end a night out.

“This is where they come to say goodnight,” Freilino said.

Martin said one of the nice things about the club being located inside the Ramada is that it provides a place for people to spend the night if needed, and Club 30 makes it easy for customers to do just that.

“If people seem not right to drive, we’ll put them up in a discounted room here,” Martin said.

Customers at Club 30 can also feel safe during their night out.

“Our security starts in the parking lot and flows all the way through the hotel and the club,” Martin said.

The next event hosted by Club 30 will be Comedy for a Cause with DJ Black at 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17. Doors open at 4 p.m. All proceeds go toward helping the victims of the El Paso shooting.
