LAS CRUCES - Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a couple suspected of shoplifting an estimated $5,000 worth of cell phones from a local Walmart store in December.

Las Cruces police learned the couple was at the Walmart Supercenter, 1550 S. Valley Drive, about 3 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018. Investigators believe they stole six cell phones by placing them in a larger box and then leaving the store without paying for the items. The value of the stolen cell phones was estimated at $5,000.

Walmart surveillance cameras captured images of the couple, a young man and woman, as they entered and exited the store. Photos can be seen on the Las Cruces Police Department’s Facebook page. The couple is believed to have left the store parking lot in a dark color, possibly red, Ford Taurus.

Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that helps identify the two women.

Anyone with information that can help identify either one, or both, suspects is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Tips can also be provided through the Las Cruces Crime Stoppers app, “P3 TIPS.” The app is available through the App Store on most devices.

Those who provide tips through Crime Stoppers do not have to leave their own name and can remain completely anonymous.
