Dear Editor,

I just received the Las Cruces Bulletin’s Best of Mesilla Valley 2024 and was astonished to see the first person featured was not even qualified to be on the list.

Yvette Herrell (voted “Best Local Legislator”) is not a local legislator and has not been for two years. She was voted out of Congress in 2022 and her first act as a totally new member of Congress was to deplore the procedures by which the state of Pennsylvania conducted its election, thus challenging its validity. So, on Jan. 7, 2021, her first action in Congress, attempting to disqualify the 2020 presidential election, might have disenfranchised her own states’ voters.

Granted, she will run for the general election in November this year, but it is presumptuous to say that she is a “best” for 2024.

It makes me less enthusiastic to believe that any of the “bests” in the edition are credible.
