“Letters to Santa” holiday events, sponsored by All American Baseball/Softball Academy of Las Cruces and VFW Post 6917 and hosted by Fabian Gomez of Las Cruces, began Dec. 14 and will continue through Christmas Eve.

Here are the events, all of which are 6-9 p.m.:

  • Saturday, Dec. 17; Monday, Dec. 19; Wednesday, Dec. 21; Thursday, Dec. 22; and Friday, Dec. 23: visits from Santa Claus.
  • The Dec. 21, 22 and 23 events will include visits from the Grinch.
  • The Dec. 21 event will include performances by a children’s choir.
  • The Dec. 22 event will include visits from Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
  • Saturday, Dec. 24: Letters to Santa giveaway, including Santa, the Grinch and Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

All events are at Gomez’s home, 7496 Sierra de Oro Place.

Everyone is welcome to attend and is encouraged to bring the whole family and have photos taken with all the visitors at Santa’s outdoor sleigh.

“We will have music, movies and complementary cookies and hot chocolate while visitors wait in line” for photos, Gomez said.

Gomez is accepting letters to Santa from local children through Sunday, Dec. 18, at his home and at All American Baseball Academy, 3920 W. Picacho Ave. Each letter should include the child’s name, three items he or she wants for Christmas and a phone number at which the child’s parents can be reached.

On Christmas Eve, letters will be drawn at random and the children whose letters are drawn will receive gifts from Santa Claus, Gomez said.

You can also donate to Gomez to help purchase gifts.
