Nathan Small, Las Cruces City Councillor in District 4, announced that he will be leave the Council in November, after two terms in office.

In a statement he realeased, Small pointed to work strengthening neighborhoods and expanding economic opportunity as two of his most important contributions in public service:

“During my two terms, our city has made tremendous progress. We have begun putting existing neighborhoods first through projects like Amador Próximo and prioritizing street repair in older residential areas. This fall we begin the biggest street rehab program in Las Cruces’ history.

“Despite a devastating national recession, I have worked with community residents, MVEDA, the private sector, and other partners to expand economic opportunity. We have recruited Certoplast, ARCA, Franco Whole Foods and other businesses, expanded economic gardening, implemented the WagePlus incentive and initiated the Jobs to Career Boot Camp."

“I am forever grateful to the District 4 voters for allowing me to represent our community. We still have much to do, and I will look hard for the best opportunities to serve and participate in our community."
