NEW CLAY STUDIO

New clay studio includes artists’ gallery, classes

Posted

Peter Paulos has operated several local businesses since 2006 and opened Las Cruces Clay and Studio at 614 E. Lohman Ave. in May. The 3,300-square-foot space includes a gallery to show the pottery that both he and his daughter, Sabrina Paulos, make; a second gallery to display the works of other local artists and classroom space where Paulos teaches classes in clay.

He also sells supplies, including clay, glazes and basic tools for artists.

The gallery is open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and Saturdays by appointment. Paulos also has a booth at the Farmers & Crafts Market every Saturday. He sells both functional and ornamental pottery in four different styles.

Pottery classes are 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and also 4-6 p.m. Thursdays and 6-9 p.m. Tuesdays. Classes are open to potters with all levels of experience.

Paulos said his work in the glass and window industry brought him to New Mexico. He had intended to live in Albuquerque but liked Las Cruces better and moved here in 2011.
