NMSU adds cookie to list of licensed products

The list of licensed products owned by New Mexico State University just got a little sweeter, with the latest addition of a brand-new cookie, Pistol Pete’s Pecan Treats.

New Mexico State Athletics collaborated with Snugglecubs Cookies, a family-owned business from Albuquerque, and cookie enthusiasts can expect to get a taste of its New Mexican-grown pecans and milk chocolate morsels.

"This collaboration with NM State Athletics to help support student-athletes perfectly aligns with the vision of Snugglecubs Cookies when I created the company five years ago,” said Suzanne Slauson, founder of Snugglecubs Cookies. “Our goal has always been to create cookies that bring people together, evoke comfort and joy, and celebrate as a family. With this partnership, we get to do just that while supporting the amazing student-athletes at NMSU. We can't wait to share this special cookie with Aggie fans everywhere."

“Pistol Pete’s Pecan Treats marries one of our region’s most popular agricultural products, pecans, with milk chocolate chips, and is sure to be a fan favorite,” said NMSU Athletic Director Mario Moccia. “Supporting another small, family-owned, New Mexico business is a win-win-win for NM State Athletics and has been a staple of our family of collegiate-licensed products. We appreciate the New Mexico Department of Agriculture bringing opportunities to us from New Mexico businesses.”

Slauson said the idea of this collaboration sparked in spring 2023 and took months of careful development and taste testing to create a special treat that captures the essence of the Aggie community.

“A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Snugglecubs Cookies’ Pistol Pete’s Pecan Treat cookie will go directly towards scholarships and programs that benefit NMSU student-athletes, furthering their pursuit of excellence both on and off the field,” Slauson said. “‘Snugglecubs’ is what we used to call our kids when they were small. We encouraged and assisted our children with their educational aspirations through their college careers. We are pleased that we can do the same for many NMSU student-athletes through the sales of the Snugglecubs Cookies’ Pistol Pete’s Pecan Treat cookie.”
