Bulletin report

Two landscape workers who were clearing weeds in the 4500 block of Picacho near Fairacres Road discovered what they reported as "human remains" Monday morning, Oct. 10, west of Las Cruces.

Doña Ana County Sheriff's deputies responded at approximately 11:30 a.m. Detectives on scene described the remains as "severely decomposed" and said they appeared to be wrapped in a tarp. It appears the remains were dumped there, although detectives don't have any information as to how long they were in that location prior to Monday morning.

The Office of the Medical Examiner was also called to the scene to investigate. The remains will be sent to Albuquerque for possible identification.
