As the Board Chair of Downtown Las Cruces Partnership, a proud participant in both the New Mexico MainStreet and Main Street America programs, I cannot emphasize enough the crucial role Small Business Saturday plays in fostering community prosperity. Small Business as a sector is the backbone of
the US economy. In New Mexico 54.2 percent of all New Mexican employees are employed by a small business. The owners and employees of these businesses are vested here, some for generations. We see them and their families at the movies, at football games, in our places of worship and other places around town.
Small businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy, embodying the entrepreneurial spirit that defines the American Dream. Small Business Saturday serves as an annual reminder to celebrate and support these enterprises, ensuring that they continue to thrive in the face of economic challenges.
Downtown Las Cruces, like many historic districts across the nation, is a unique tapestry of independently-owned shops, boutiques, and eateries. Each establishment contributes not only to the economic vibrancy of our community but also to its character and identity. Small Business Saturday is a powerful initiative that unites residents and visitors alike, encouraging them to explore the charm of our local businesses and invest in the heart of our city.

Downtown Las Cruces partnership is a nationally- recognized American Express Neighborhood Champion, charged with promoting and celebrating the small businesses of our district. Come downtown Nov. 25 to visit the Farmers Market, stop in on your favorite downtown and Arts and Cultural District spots, and join us as we man our welcome station and celebrate in the Mesilla Valley Pharmacy block party and free flu shot clinic.
