Animal Services Center Groundbreaking: Thursday, May 27

Members of the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley Board (which includes Las Cruces City Councilors and Dona County Commissioners) will break ground on the new Animal Shelter Facility at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 27 at the location of the new facility, 3551 Bataan Memorial.

The media is invited to attend this event, but due to current public gathering guidelines, an invitation to the general public will not be extended at this time.

This event will be video recorded and shown to the general public following the groundbreaking ceremony.

The New Animal Shelter Facility was approved by voters in the City’s General Obligation (GO) Bond special election in 2018. The cost of the new facility is estimated at $9.8 million out of a total of $35.6 million in GO Bond Projects. Other projects in the GO Bond include a new Fire Station 3 Building, Improvements to Parks and Sports Fields, and Improvements to Walking, Jogging, Biking Recreational Trails.
