The City of Las Cruces Museum of Art’s next “Listen to Your Art” lecture will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, via Zoom.

Artist Danila Rumold will discuss the life and work of German-born American artist Eva Hesse.

The link to the lecture is https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83869492919. The password is 272271.

Rumold is an abstract artist who creates process-based drawings, collages and installations.

“Using botanical color and other natural, raw materials, Rumold’s eco-conscious choices reassert the primacy of materiality,” the city said in a press release. “Rumold’s work is abstract and paired down to the basic elements.”

She has exhibited across the country, including two solo exhibits in Albuquerque in 2018 and 2019.

“The life and work of Hesse has influenced several generations of young artists since her death in 1970 (at age 34),” the release said.

Rumold will talk about how Hesse’s “expression of her life experiences as a refugee from Nazi Germany, shaped her principal aesthetic disposition toward all that happened to her. Through a closer look at … expressionism/minimalism, painting/sculpture, absurd/rational, feminist/anti-feminist, Rumold will explore the integration of art and life.”
