Arts and Cultural District seeks writers

Posted

The Las Cruces Arts and Cultural District (LCACD) is seeking writers to participate in its Generations Community Writing Project.

The project is “meant to bring together literary artists in the community and provide a platform for them to create, share and experience the vast literary talent in the community,” LCACD and the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership (DLCP) said in an announcement of the project.

From among those who apply, eight writers will be selected and paired. Each pair of writers will be at least 10 years apart in age. As a pair, the writers will determine the depth of their collaboration, and may write independently or together. As a pair, they will introduce one another and share reading time, LCACD and DLCP said.

The project theme is “hope,” which is a starting place for writers’ compositions. Strict adherence to the theme is not required. Writers who write in all genres are encouraged to apply, including, but not limited to prose, poetry, drama and creative nonfiction.

The application deadline is Monday, Feb. 15. Apply at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSexLDCtrrtCG_5kGXL2YrIkqtTKySMTSwZCDDQzdLo9QF9dDA/viewform.

Participating writers must be at least 18 years old, residents of Doña Ana County and “proficient in COVID-era technologies, including video conferencing.”
