Auditions for a Las Cruces production of Disney’s “Frozen JR.” will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 14 and 21 at Morning Star Church, 2941 Morningstar Drive in Las Cruces. Thirty children from

kindergarten to age 18 will be cast to present the stage adaptation of the top-grossing animated film of all time, the church said in a news release.

For a registration fee of $25 per child cast, each will receive more than 40 hours of guidance, a souvenir script, a costume and two tickets for one of four performances.

“When the opportunity arose to work with Scaffolding Theatre Company (of Las Cruces) to offer this fun, valuable and healthy summer experience for the children of Las Cruces, my team and I jumped at the chance,” said Morning Star’s lead pastor Rev. Amy Wilson Feltz. “The scope of this project has the possibility of reaching hundreds of people in the community with a message of love and hope. We could all use a bit more of both these days.”

The 60-minute musical features award-winning music and lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, including “Do You Want to Build a Snowman,” “Love is an Open Door,” and “Let It Go.” The book by Jennifer Lee is adapted from the 2013 Disney film and the 2018 Broadway stage musical.

“When my husband and I saw the musical on Broadway in 2018,” says director Megan McQueen, “we were swept up in the electric enthusiasm of so many young families. They could barely contain themselves from singing along, so we’re planning to find ways for audiences to contribute to the magic of the musical.”

The show will rehearse from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 6 to 16, with performances June 17, 18, and 19.

Disney’s “Frozen JR.” is presented through special arrangement with and all materials are provided by
