Tune in with the Zoom link at rebrand.ly/ChildDetention.
  • 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12: “History Notes: “Citizens in la calle: Protest and Politics in Contemporary Latin America” with Iñigo García-Bryce, Ph.D., who is an associate professor at New Mexico State and director of NMSU’s Center for Latin Americans and Border Studies. García-Bryce will lead a discussion about revolutions in Latin America. “La calle” (the street) has become a powerful place of protest in recent Latin American history. • 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12: “What’s the Word: Arabic - A Trip to Lebanon.” Dive into the history and traditions of Lebanon while learning and practicing Arabic language skills. These are not formal classes but provide an opportunity for learning and conversation between beginners and more experienced participants. Register to attend by emailing education@las-cruces.org.
