Chamber plows ahead with annual healthcare awards

It’ll be virtual, but the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce (GLCCOC) is moving forward with plans to present six awards to healthcare workers in and around Las Cruces as part of its annual Healthcare Awards program.

Set to be broadcast on both Facebook and YouTube, the awards will be presented Nov. 14 from 5-6 p.m. Nominations are being accepted and can be emailed to dmoore@lascruces.org.

According to a GLCCOC press release, awards will be presented in the following categories:

Mayor’s Legacy Award: recognizing a healthcare professional who has left a lasting mark on the history and culture of the Las Cruces healthcare community and has exhibited an extended track record of improving the local quality of life.

Impact Award: recognizing a healthcare professional who has had a direct impact on an individual’s care. This professional may have been the primary caregiver, but often the individual who has the greatest impact is the one who listens with an open heart.

Compassion Award: recognizing the ability of the nominee to sympathize with another person’s suffering while regularly demonstrating compassion. Characteristics of the Compassion Award include alleviating another person’s hardship or enduring with them in a time of difficulty.

Teamwork Award: recognizing a productive and cohesive project or program and the spirit of a program’s mission while inspiring others to take ownership of the task. This award can be presented to an individual or a team.

Innovation Award: recognizing an individual with a creative mind and a capacity to look outside the box and improve a process or system.

Emerging Leader Award: recognizing a student or young professional who has been seen motivating and inspiring others, exhibiting passion in their field and is “paving his or her own path” to make a difference in the lives of others.
