LAS CRUCES MUSEUM OF ART

City museum looks at reactions to work-famous art

Posted

The Las Cruces Museum of Art (MOA) will host a guest lecture with Dan Hill, Ph.D., 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 9, at MOA, 491 N. Main St., as Hill discusses the use of scientific tools to provide objective, quantifiable ways to understand the imagery that does and doesn’t grab our attention, the City of Las Cruces said in a news release.

Hill’s presentation, “First Blush,” draws on facial coding to capture and identify people’s quick, real-time emotional responses to famous works of art, the news release said.

Hill is an internationally recognized expert on the role of emotions in politics, business, sports and popular culture, the city said.

Masks and social distancing will be required during the presentation.

MOA is accessible from RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1 Stop 1.
