Posted

Dancers from Las Cruces, Alamogordo and El Paso will come together to help support the work local nonprofit Desert Community Wellness (DCW) does for children, DCW said in a news release.

A fundraising dance concert, “Dances From and For the Heart,” will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at Las Cruces School of Music and Dance &LCSDM), 1390 N. Main St.

Tickets are $20, two for $30 and $5 for children. Tickets can be purchased online at Eventbee.com by entering the event name “Dances From and For the Heart.”  Tickets are also for sale at Downtown Desert Yoga, 303 S. Alameda Blvd., and will be available at the door the day of the event.

DCW partners with other community organizations to offer programs that address physical, creative, financial, environmental and social and emotional wellness, the nonprofit said.

“The benefit concert shares the creative, physical and social and emotional wellness that is inherent in dance,” DCW said.

The dance concert is family friendly, with a variety of dance styles and musical selections.

The program includes dancers from Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, Borderlands Ballet, Lifted Dance Collective, NMSU faculty and graduates, instructors and students from Michele’s Dance Academy and Las Cruces High School, students from D’ansa Jazz Studio and students of Ballet Folklorico Diamantes del Valle.

Participating dancers are donating their time to be a part of the concert. The venue is being donated by LCSDM.
