Gary Shields

Gary D. Shields, 61, passed suddenly from this life Thursday, July 8, in Las Cruces, N.M. Gary was born Jan. 28, 1959 in Fort Benning, GA., to Glenn and Trudy Shields. A true servant of God, Gary spent his life helping others.  He is remembered by all whose lives he touched as a joyous, loving, big-hearted Christian man whose love for God shone through him as a beacon of light for everyone to see. He also was an extremely talented artist, a hard-working caretaker, and wonderful father, son and brother who will be greatly missed.

Gary is preceded in death by his mother, Gerlinde (Trudy) Shields.  He is survived by his daughter, Summer Bishop, son-in-law, Mills Bishop; father, Glenn Shields; sister, Patti Seigmund, brother-in-law Scott Seigmund; and a host of special friends.

A memorial service was conducted Saturday, July 18, at Heart for the World Church in Las Cruces.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gary’s memory to your local Salvation Army location or to the “Loving our Homebound” program, which provides meals and visits to the elderly, sick and homebound, at the HFTW Church, 1605 S.
