Haciendas at Grace Village, an assisted living and memory care facility located at 2802 Corte Dios in Las Cruces, will host its third annual CARE-A-Van parade in celebration of Senior Citizens Day, Friday, Aug. 19, Sinuate Media of Las Cruces said in an email.

The parade, which will begin at 10 a.m., will include the Las Cruces police and fire departments, Military RAM Club, American RAM Club, local musician AB Swangz and other car clubs and motorcycle clubs in the community, Sinuate Media said. This year’s parade includes a lowrider club, a motorcycle club and classic cars.

“As the parade comes through, Swangz will sing on a trailer then will come around again to stop at the center and perform a short set for the crowd,” Sinuate said.

“This tradition was started three years ago during the COVID pandemic when no one was allowed to visit their loved ones due to restrictions,” the email said.

Parade participants decorate their vehicles with balloons and messages on their vehicles and by holding up posters in support of Senior Citizens Day, “showing their love and making a joyful noise” by honking their horns and sounding their sirens.
