“Those Who Paved the Way” is an event sponsored by The Association of Las Cruces to honor four women who are pillars of the Las Cruces business community and the community at large.

“Ammu Devasthali, Barbara Hubbard, Julia Brown and Wanda Bowman were pioneers as they initiated and built their businesses, careers and philanthropic influence in a time when women were just beginning to claim their space,” The Association founders Marci Dickerson and Sumer Rose Nolen said.

The event will be held 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum, 4100 Dripping Springs Road.

Tickets are $25. Visit www.facebook.com/theassociationlc for the link to purchase tickets.

Hubbard is the founder of the ACTS Scholarship program and a “legendary promotor and trailblazer for women in the entertainment industry,” according to The Association.

Brown is the current American Association of University Women national board chair and “a pioneer for women in law and government.” She is a former Doña Ana County manager.

Bowman, owner of Ashley Furniture, is a “groundbreaker female entrepreneur and community philanthropist.”

Devasthali ns a “groundbreaker community activist, philanthropist and NMSU regent.”

The Association was created in 2021 “to provide ambitious female professionals and entrepreneurs a place to network, develop, connect and support one another through meaningful relationships and expert business-development instruction,” according to https://theassociationlc.net/.
