January STEM Programs at the Museum of Nature & Science

The Las Cruces Museum of Nature & Science will offer in-person STEM programs for children and families this January. The programs are free but require registration in advance. Register in-person at the Museum of Nature & Science atrium desk before the registration deadlines listed.

“Nature & Science Discovery Pre-K: Nature Kids”
Thursdays, 9am – 10am
Learn about geological processes through stories and crafts. “Pre-K” takes place every Thursday at 9am. Register in advance for January by December 31. No class on January 6. Recommended for ages 2-5, adult caregiver participation is required.

“Saturday Family Science – Volcanoes!”
Saturday, January 8, 10am - 11am
Work as a team to explore how volcanoes work and create an eruption using chemical reactions. Registration closes December 31. Recommended for ages 6 and up, adult caregiver participation is required.

“STEAMpunk – Rosalind Franklin, geneticist”
Saturday, January 15, 10am – 11am
Discover the stories behind science heroes who break barriers and explore the applications of their research through STEM. Registration closes January 8. Recommended for ages 6-10.  

“Live Animal Feedings”
Saturdays, January 8 & 15, 11am
It’s brunch time! Watch and learn how different species of animals eat, and what they eat. Animal feedings take place in the gallery at the Museum of Nature & Science. No registration is required.

“Animal Encounters”
Saturday, January 22, 11am – 12pm
Learn about the diverse world of reptiles and get up close to some of the museum’s residents. No registration required.
