JARDIN DE LOS NIÑOS

Jardin de los Niños has ribbon cutting on trauma care center

Posted

Jardin de los Niños CEO Michelle Adames, Ph.D., and her staff, volunteers, clients and supporters cut the ribbon May 21 as Jardin became the first trauma-informed care center in New Mexico endorsed by the New Mexico Association for Infant Mental Health (NMAIMH).

“This achievement is the result of the hard work and dedication from Jardin staff and the incredible support and guidance provided by NMAIMH,” Adames said. “The ongoing journey of maintaining the infant mental health endorsement provides Jardin with guidance and resources to best support the children and families that they serve. Jardin will continue to enhance and expand its behavioral health services and programming while empowering its families and building resiliency within the children and families,” Adames said.

The endorsement “provides our organization with the tools and competencies to address trauma and adverse childhood experiences (ACES) so that we are better prepared to serve and elevate our families," she said.

Jardin provides education and childcare to children and families struggling with homelessness. It is located on the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope campus, 999 W. Amador Ave.
