Las Cruces artist loans ceramic tile art pieces to Jardin de los Niños

Las Cruces artist Glenn Schwaiger is loaning some of his unique and beautiful artwork to Jardin de Los Niños to brighten the walls of their facility on the Mesilla Valley Community of Hope campus.

But the generosity doesn’t stop there. Frame and Art Center of Las Cruces is hanging the artwork as an in-kind donation. The work is expected to be hung at Jardin in mid-December.

The ceramic tile pieces that will be hung at Jardin depict a range of subjects that will likely be of particular interest to children. They include seascapes, dinosaurs and hot-air balloons. Jardin provides childcare and education services to homeless and near homeless children and their families.

Schwaiger said his primary artistic focus for the past 20 years has been public art.

“My ceramic tile public artworks are an expression and response to the people and environments where they are installed,” Schwaiger said on his website, www.agavearts.com. “Often, I involve the creative energies of the community in the creation of ceramic tile murals and sculptures. My landscape and nature images are a celebration of the cyclical rhythms of the Chihuahuan Desert. I have grown to appreciate both the timeless and temporal aspects of the desert during nearly 30 years of residence in southern New Mexico. My appreciation for nature and the quest for universal, simplified patterns have a long history in Eastern arts, especially in the decoration of ceramic forms.”

"Jardin de los Niños is elated to receive the loaned artwork that will be displayed throughout the building,” said Jardin CEO Michelle S. Adames. “The artwork will bring so much joy to the children, families and staff. Thank you to Glenn Schwaiger, LeeAnn Meadows and Frame and Art Center for your generous donation."
