Las Cruces Lacrosse seeks players

The Las Cruces Lacrosse program is seeking players age 8 to 14 for its fall season.

Practice began on Sept. 9 and will be held on Thursdays from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Frenger Park.

Lacrosse is traditionally a spring sport, but a fall season is designed to get players familiar with the sport and excited about the spring season, head coach and club co-founder Janae Kraus said.

The cost to sign up for the fall season is $20, but you need to be a member of USA Lacrosse to participate. A youth USA Lacrosse membership includes insurance, lasts a year and is $30, Kraus said.

You can get a membership by going to USALacrosse.com/membership.

The club has equipment that can be borrowed.

“I don’t think people realize we are here and we want to get the word out,” Kraus said.

The fall season will culminate with a tournament in Santa Fe on Oct. 9-10.

“We are getting people excited for spring, getting them some playing time and getting them a feeling on what lacrosse is all about,” Kraus said.
