Las Cruces rated ninth best run city

Las Cruces has made another top-10 list.

The personal-finance website WalletHub has named Las Cruces as the country’s ninth best-run city in America in its 2021 Best- & Worst-Run Cities in America.

The survey ranked 150 of the largest U.S. cities. Las Cruces earned these numbers (1: best; 75: average):

44th in financial stability, 72nd in education, 31st in health, 100th in safety, 102nd in economy, 93rd in infrastructure and pollution and fifth in total budget per capita. Las Cruces was tied with Phoenix at 65th in quality of city services.

Nampa, Indiana, received the top rating in the survey, followed in order by Boise, Idaho; Fort Wayne, Indiana; Nashua, New Hampshire; Lexington-Fayette, Kentucky; Lincoln, Nebraska; Durham, North Carolina; Rapid City, South Dakota; and, in 10th place, Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Albuquerque was rated 31st in the report and El Paso was 46th.

The bottom five in the report, were, in order: Detroit, Michigan; Gulfport, Mississippi; Chattanooga, Tennessee; New York City; San Francisco; and Washington, D.C.
