ANIMAL SERVICES CENTER OF MESILLA VALLEY

Mesilla shelter has adorable pets that need loving homes

Posted

The Animal Services Center of Mesilla Valley has pets in need that are looking for their “furr-ever” homes.

This week’s Cat of the Week is Chip.

Chip is 15 pounds of “pure love.”

He’s a 1-year-old neutered male.

“I love getting head pets and start purring immediately,” he says. “One of my favorite things to do is bury myself under blankets and snuggle. So if your idea of a fun night is hanging out in bed, watching TV. I’m your cat.”

Fortunately for him and unfortunately for cat lovers, Chip has already been adopted by some lucky new owners, but he is an example of the type of pets that are available for loving people and families.

This week’s Dog of the Week is 2-year-old Cola. Cola is a spayed female whose personality is “as sweet as her name.”

“When I get excited, I get full body wiggles and shake my little tail nub,” she says. “I love affection and playing around with my dog friends, too.”

Cola is animal number 33113 at the shelter.

Shelter officials say there is plenty of interest in adopting Cola, but there are others like here.

The shelter, at 3551 Bataan Memorial West,  is open noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
