MESILLA VALLEY STAMP CLUB

Mesilla Valley stamp show has plenty for beginning, intermediate collectors

Posted

The Mesilla Valley Stamp Club (MVSC) will host it 31st stamp show in Las Cruces Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 11-12, at the Las Cruces Convention Center (west entrance), 680 E. University Ave. Show hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday.

Admission is free.

“The Mesilla Valley Stamp Show has something to offer beginners and intermediate stamp collectors as well as advanced philatelists and the general public,” said MVSC Chairman Richard Hiss.

“Stamp collectors, both local and from out of town, will be exhibiting their stamps and competing for awards in competitive stamp exhibits,” Hiss said. “Stamp dealers from five states will bring their stocks of worldwide stamps, postal history and supplies. They will be buying stamps as well as selling.”

Hiss said this year's show will also feature a special cancelled envelope honoring the 75th anniversary of White Sands Missile Range.

The show will also have a junior stamp collector’s table, Hiss said, and young collectors will be provided free stamps.

If you want to start a stamp collection, add to the one you have or have an expert take a look at your collection, “come to the show and learn more,” Hiss said.

MVSC meets at 6:30 p.m. the first Thursday of the month at the Belton Bridge Center, 1214 E. Madrid Ave. The club was established in 1971 and is the oldest stamp club in New Mexico, Hiss said.
