Mountain View Co+op to give away holiday meals

Since 2017, Mountain View Market Co+op has helped provide Thanksgiving meals to local families in need through its “Round Up at the Registers” donation program.

Through Wednesday, Nov. 25, the co-op will be collecting money through the Round Up campaign. Shoppers will have the opportunity to round up their totals to the next dollar, and the funds will offset the cost of the meals.

Each meal will include a non-GMO turkey, stuffing, sides and ingredients to bake a pumpkin pie. The dinners contain high-quality, natural and organic foods.

Last year Mountain View Market Co+op raised enough funds to donate 15 meals. This year it is committed to donating 20 Thanksgiving dinners.

The co-op is accepting nominations for local families in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Shoppers and co-op owners can nominate a friend, family member, neighbor or themselves to receive a full dinner courtesy of Mountain View Market Co+op.

If the store gets more than 20 applications, 20 winners will be drawn randomly and contacted by phone. All recipients and nominators’ information will be kept confidential.

Since 2017, Mountain View Market Co+op has distributed more than $11,000 in donations for local charities and organizations.

Mountain View Market Co+op is located at 1300 El Paseo Road in the Idaho Crossing shopping plaza. The co-op is open to the public.

Mountain View Market Co+op was founded in 1975 to provide the residents of southern New Mexico a democratically controlled, locally owned natural foods cooperative. More than 3,000 individuals and families in the Mesilla Valley and beyond own it. The co-op celebrated its 45^th anniversary in April 2020.
