Posted

The National Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) Prescription Drug Take Back Day is April 30 in Las Cruces and across the United States.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. that day, local law enforcement will have five locations in Las Cruces where they will be accepting expired or unwanted medications from members of the community, the Center for Health Innovation/Unified Prevention Coalition for Doña Ana County said.

Here are the drop-of locations and the law-enforcement agencies that will be on hand:

  • Branigan Library, 200 E. Picacho Ave., Drug Enforcement Agency;
  • East Mesa Public Safety Complex, 550 N. Sonoma Ranch Blvd., Las Cruces Police Department (LCPD);
  • Elks Lodge, Las Cruces, 3000 Elks Drive, LCPD;
  • Mesilla Town Hall, 2231 Avenida de Mesilla, Mesilla, Mesilla Marshal’s Department;
  • Walgreens on West Picacho, Las Cruces, 2700 W. Picacho Ave., LCPD.

“DEA’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting.”
