New Las Cruces business focuses on research and intelligence gathering

Posted

Crude Intelligence Group LLC (CIG) is a new and unique business in Las Cruces.

CIG, which opened earlier this year, specializes in government and politics, capital expansion and corporate intelligence.

Founders Kevin Cardoza and Megan De La Rosa focus on research and intelligence gathering – finding “information that is not readily available” for their clients, Cardoza said.

The company can also do a “deep dive” to gather information to help make a business more competitive and help it grow, he said. If a local business is about to open or is considering expanding or moving to a new location, for example, CIG can do “the legwork” on permitting and compliance with city, county and state codes and regulations – filling out all the necessary forms and guiding the client “every step of the way,” Cardoza said.

It can also keep businesses informed about changes in local regulations and state and federal laws and about pending legislation and policy changes, help with the development of a business plan and outline best practices to make the business successful and avoid potential pitfalls to success.

“Each client is unique,” Cardoza said, with different business goals. But they all can benefit from CIG’s “extremely powerful research and capability tools” that can be applied to both for-profit businesses and nonprofits, he said.

“We’re at the vanguard of information,” Cardoza said. “Data and information, that’s just power regardless of what you do.”

CIG can also locate grants and other potential local, state and federal funding opportunities, he said. And it can compile data about a business’s competitors and public sentiment about them.

CIG also can help businesses work with lobbyists and can draft testimony and create scenarios if a business or nonprofit is preparing for a public or private meeting or a government hearing.

CIG also works for local, districtwide and statewide political candidates “across the political spectrum,” Cardoza said.

All the information CIG collects is “open source intelligence,” he said, which means it comes from publicly available sources. At the same time, the work CIG does for its clients is completely confidential, Cardoza said.

A native of El Salvador, Cardoza is a graduate of Las Cruces High School. He has bachelor degrees in political science and foreign languages from New Mexico State University, with minors in government and international relations.

De La Rosa is from southeast New Mexico. She served as a regional political director on the re-election campaign for former New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and served as executive assistant and briefing and advance coordinator in the governor’s office. De La Rosa has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice/sociology.
