Oñate baseball, softball advance to postseason playoffs



The Oñate High School baseball and softball teams have both advanced to the postseason.

In baseball, the Knights are seeded eighth in the Class 5A playoffs and will face top-seeded Rio Rancho Tuesday, June 22, at 7 p.m. at Rio Rancho High. The semifinals are slated for Thursday, June 24, and the championship game on Saturday, June 26, at the University of New Mexico.

In 5A softball, Oñate is seeded fourth and will host Cibola High School at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the Field of Dreams. The softball semifinals in 5A are also slated for Thursday, June 24, with the title game at UNM on Saturday, June 26.

In 1A, the Mesilla Valley Christian baseball team is seeded third in a four-team tournament and will face Gateway Christian at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the New Mexico Military Institute.

In 4A baseball, Santa Teresa is seeded fourth and will host No. 5 Artesia at 5 p.m. Tuesday, June 22.
