The Oñate High School baseball and softball teams’ seasons came to an end in the semifinal round of the state 5A playoffs on Thursday night, June 24.
The Knights’ baseball team lost 6-4 to La Cueva Thursday night in Albuquerque. Eighth-seeded Onate had upset top-ranked Rio Rancho 1-0 in the opening round earlier this week.
In softball, the Lady Knights fell 1-0 to top-seeded Cleveland High of Rio Rancho in the semifinals. Oñate had beaten Cibola 6-0 in the opening round.
