NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY

Pay your NMSU parking citation with peanut butter this week

Posted

Spread the news: Before the semester ends, those who have “No Current Permit” parking citations at New Mexico State University have a chance to clear their record while helping their community.

NMSU Parking Services is accepting at least 80 ounces (five or six small jars) of peanut butter to cover the cost of the citation Nov. 29 through Dec. 3 at the parking and ID card services office, located on the second floor of the NMSU bookstore. Bring your jars, fill out a quick form, and your peanut butter will then be donated to Aggie Cupboard, a food pantry that provides free supplementary food to the NMSU community, including Las Cruces and DACC students, faculty, and staff.

“It means a lot to the Aggie Cupboard,” said Amanda Nunez, program specialist at Aggie Cupboard. “We function mainly off donations, so to see that a department is willing to give rather than take is very humbling. It is a form of paying it forward.”

The department is accepting peanut butter for one citation per person only. This offer does not apply to other citations or violations, which are subject to standard payment and policies.

Others will have another opportunity to pay their no current permit parking citations with peanut butter at the end of the spring semester next year.
