Rap, R&B artists to host ‘Nightmare on Main Street’ at Amador Live

Rap and R&B artist and disc jockey DJ Sauna and R&B and soul artist Philip Israel, both of Las Cruces, will host “Nightmare on Main Street,” beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 29, at the Amador Live, 302 S. Main St.

The cost is $35 for general admission. Text Sauna at 575-650-1167 to enter a contest to win free tickets to the show. He will text you back with directions to follow.

Artists performing during the show include: Yung Bleu; T-Rell; Kirko Bangz; and Krystall Poppin, along with Israel and Sauna.

Others involved in the show, Sauna said, include hip-hop and R&B promoter Rob-E (Sauna called him “the hardest working event planner in Las Cruces”) and producer and DJ Phat-Tony.

Sauna and Israel are both originally from North Carolina but didn’t meet until a few years ago when they were both working at a Las Cruces call center.

Sauna was stationed at White Sands Missile Range as a member of the U.S. Army in 2012. He served a nine-month tour of duty in Afghanistan in 2012-13 as a combat engineer, locating IEDs (improvised explosive devices), bombs and other explosive devices. An Army vehicle in which he was traveling while on duty was blown up by a 200-pound bomb.

Sauna began his music career while in the Army, doing audio engineering on three albums while he was stationed in Afghanistan.

After his military service, Sauna moved to Las Cruces in April 2013, working as an entrepreneur, computer and marketing specialist and as a disc jockey. He hosts live musical events and also works online and as a host on mixed tapes produced by other artists, and also is a recording and performing artist.

Israel came to Las Cruces seven years ago and is continuing his education at New Mexico State University. In addition to pursuing a career as an entrepreneur, performer, songwriter and DJ, Israel would like to teach financial literacy to the younger generation – helping them learn things like planning for a secure financial future, investing in stocks, saving money, paying bills and “how to grow an asset,” he said.

Sauna and Israel have collaborated with platinum-selling recording artist The Game on a new record called “Priceless,” which both said began airing in mid-October on Hot 103 radio.

The song, which Sauna and Israel wrote and produced, is “a fun record,” Sauna said. “It has a lot of energy. My fans tell me it’s one of the best songs they’ve heard. They love the record.”

Both performers also have solo albums.

Sauna will release “Hotel Sauna” Nov. 3, he said, with Boss Blacc (@thalasvegaslegends) serving as executive producer. Sauna said Phat-Tony produced two songs on the album.

Under the label Soul Water Records, Israel released “Star Child,” a rap album, Oct. 22. He will release “Digital Soul,” an R&B album, Feb. 4, 2022.
