DOÑA ANA COUNTY SENIOR OLYMPIC GAMES

Senior Games canceled for 2021 due to pandemic

Doña Ana County Senior Olympic (DACSO) games – which usually get underway early in each calendar year – have been canceled for 2021.

The local office of Senior Olympics remains open and is assisting seniors who wish to participate in the New Mexico Games for 2021 and/or the National Games in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Nov. 2-18, 2021.

Mike Simione, longtime DACSO office manager and coordinator, died Dec. 2, 2020. His duties are being coordinated by other staff and volunteers until a permanent office manager can be brought on board.

The DACSO office is located at 2211 N. Main St., suite 1, and will be open Wednesday mornings for the near future. Open days are anticipated to be more frequent in upcoming months. The office can be reached at 575-288-0750. The office email address is dacso2211@outlook.com.

“We are available to help with any training or classes you may need for competition in the state and nnational games,” said DACSO member Paul Fetterhoff. “We have equipment to loan for practice, if needed. We also are planning an air gun competition in April to include men’s and women’s pistol and rifle, both standing and supported. Please contact Steve Olimb at 575-523-1118 for further details.”

Fetterhoff can be reached at 575-405-9892.
