SPAY NEUTER ACTION PROGRAM OF DOÑA ANA COUNTY

Spay, neuter program receives national grant

Posted

Spay Neuter Action Program (SNAP) of Doña Ana County announced that it has received a $1,000 grant from Petco Love to support SNAP’s lifesaving work for animals in the county.

Petco Love, formerly known as Petco Foundation, is a nonprofit working for closer, stronger, healthier pets, families and communities. The organization was founded in 1999 and has invested $300 million to date in pet adoptions and other lifesaving efforts, a news release said. It has helped find homes for more than 6.5 million animals in partnership with Petco and with 4,000 organizations across the nation.

“Today, Petco Love invests in SNAP and hundreds of other organizations across the nation working to improve animal health and welfare as part of our commitment to creating a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” Petco Love President Susanne Kogut said.

“This has been a challenging year for all of us,” SNAP Board President Julie Miller said. “With the help of Petco Love, SNAP will be able continue with our mission of helping under-resourced communities in Doña Ana County spay and neuter their pets despite this pandemic. As of August 2021, we are proud to report over 24,000 animals have been spayed or neutered since its inception in 1998.”

The nonprofit SNAP issues vouchers to qualifying pet owners in the county to have their dogs and cats spay or neutered at a reduced cost. SNAP is the only low-cost resource available in Doña Ana County for low-income families to spay and neuter their pets.
