TOMBAUGH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Tombaugh Elementary students drawn to every kind of art

Posted

Tombaugh Elementary School is abuzz with student art.

“Our art teacher, Annie Banks, has been doing amazing art projects for our students,” said Principal Tara Faivre.

"Last year was my first year teaching art at Tombaugh, and I had a wonderful time working with the students in person in the classroom,” Banks said. “When we went to online learning, I knew it would be a challenge for students, but I have been so impressed with the hard work and talent of every student from kindergarten to fifth grade and their incredible resilience. This year has been a unique but rewarding experience that has proven just how artistic and creative elementary students are."
Banks’ students at Tombaugh Elementary agree:

Fifth grader Jasmine Squires: “My favorite thing about art class is that we can let our imaginations go wild, and I also love our art teacher."

Fourth grader Scarlett Montoya: “I like online art, because it's fun and easy, [and] if you miss a step, you can just replay the video."

First grader Jaxon Young: "I like to do art, because it’s fun and relaxing."

Third grader Aaliyah Rodriguez: "I love art, because it is relaxing and makes me happy."

First grader Elijah Cram: "What I love about art is mixing colors and using acrylic paints. I have another art teacher. Her name is Jane Peacock, and she inspired me to do art."
