Tombaugh Gallery launches virtual venue

Posted

The Tombaugh Gallery has launched a virtual presence to showcase the artists who would have had their exhibits in the gallery this fall and into the spring had it not been for the pandemic and state public health orders.

The first artist to be included in the virtual gallery is Lyndia Radice of Magdalena, New Mexico. Her bird and nature photographs were in the gallery several years ago. She now creates digital paintings based on her bird and nature photographs.

Radice begins with an original photograph, then uses Photoshop’s wide range of brushes that mirror traditional watercolor, pastel and other mediums, the gallery said in a news release. A painting may contain 25-30 layers and take 10-15 hours to complete.

Radice said her connection with birds and wildlife has deepened, and she hopes that her digital paintings will deepen viewers’ connections to the earth and its creatures.

The gallery will feature Radice’s work through Oct. 17.
