WALMART SUPERCENTER

Walmart on Walton completes remodel

Posted

The newly remodeled Walmart Supercenter at 571 Walton Blvd. has an expanded beer and wine section, among other changes.

The remodel includes several department transformations designed to help customers save time and to help protect associates and customers from COVID-19.

“We can’t wait for Las Cruces customers to see our newly-remodeled Supercenter,” said store manager Tobias Flores. “Walmart is continuously investing in new ways to make shopping easier. We can’t wait for our customers to see the improvements in the store.”

As part of the remodel, the store gave more than $13,000 to local organizations including Community Action Agency of Southern New Mexico, Chabad of Las Cruces/Southern New Mexico, Doña Ana County Sherriff’s Mounted Patrol, Mothers Against Drunk Driving New Mexico and the Las Cruces Public Schools Foundation.

In addition to the expanded liquor area, the remodel included an updated baby department with stroller display, an interactive hardware section with tools unboxed and on display and a new layout in both grocery and housewares

“Along with the upgrades to the store, we will continue to help protect our associates and customers from the impact of COVID-19 through the extensive measures we put in place earlier this year at this store, and those around the country,” Flores said.

He cited the following protocols:

  • Enacting deep-cleaning and sanitizing protocols with guidance from the CDC, which includes a thorough cleaning of key areas of the store (Front entrance, carts, registers, and bathrooms etc.).
  • Conducting health screenings and temperature checks on associates prior to them beginning their shifts.
  • Requiring all associates to wear Walmart-issued or otherwise approved masks at all times.
  • Adding sneeze guards to checkout lanes and pharmacy areas.
  • Installing floor decals at the entrances and in checkout lanes to support social distancing.
  • Adjusted operating hours (7 a.m. to 10 p.m.) to help associates restock shelves while continuing to clean and sanitize the store.
  • Enacting an emergency leave policy for associates who are unable or uncomfortable coming to work.
  • Continuing to require customers to wear protective facial coverings while inside the building.
