Waning Moon

Posted

This waning crescent moon was seen over the Organ Mountains early morning on Friday, April 9. Earlier this week, we saw April’s full moon, which was a Super Pink Moon. It appeared at 9:31 p.m. Monday, April 26. A super moon appears when the moon is closest to the Earth in its elliptical orbit. There are 12 or 13 full months during a calendar year, of which three or four reach the super-moon classification. The April 26 super moon was the first in almost a year. The full moon closest to the Earth this century will be Dec. 6, 2052.
