Arts Council May programming

The Doña Ana Arts Council’s (DAAC) May 2023 programming includes:

  • Through Friday, May 12: Alma d’arte Charter High School’s “NM Heroines of the Past, Present, and Future” exhibit;
  • Monday-Monday, May 15-29: Sierra Middle School’s “Arts Showcase” exhibit; opening reception is noon-3 p.m. Saturday, May 20;
  • Your Brain on Art-Meditate with Art: 11:30 a.m.-noon, Wednesdays, May 17, 24 and 31; bring your own yoga mat;
  • Cafecito y Arte – Let’s Talk about Art: 10-11 a.m. Fridays, May 12, 19 and 26;
  • Get Artrageous -Mi Familia y Arte: Wednesday, May 24;
  • Open Mic-Calling All Voices: 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 26.

All events are taking place at DAAC, 230 S. Water St.

Call for art

DAAC is asking for local artists to submit proposals for Frida Kahlo-inspired art for its July exhibit, “Ode to Frida!” which honors the birthday of Mexican artist Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderón (July 6, 1907-July 13, 1954).
