Auditions for ‘Nunsense’ are June 4 at Community Theatre

Posted

Las Cruces Community Theatre (LCCT) will hold auditions for the musical “Nunsense,” by Dan Goggin, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the theater, 313 N. Main St. Downtown.

Needed for the cast are five females and one or two understudies, ages 17 to 80, said LCCT Board President Janet Beatty-Payne, who will be the show’s choreographer.

Auditioners should prepare a Broadway-style song for the live, in-person audition. An accompanist will be provided; auditioners should bring sheet music for their songs.

A short dance routine will be taught as part of the audition, so auditioners should wear appropriate clothing and bring tap shoes if possible. Some improvisational games will also be part of the audition.

Rehearsals for the show are tentatively scheduled for 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday beginning Monday, June 20.

The show will be directed by New Mexico State University Theatre Department Head Wil Kilroy, with retired Las Cruces Public Schools music teacher Judy Bethmann serving as musical director. It will be performed Aug. 5-21 at LCCT.
