Big Brothers Big Sisters welcomes new regional director

Big Brothers Big Sisters announced the arrival of Rose Ann Vasquez, the nonprofit’s new regional director for Las Cruces, Silver City and Deming.

In a news release, BBBS said the previous director, Beth Hoffman, recently left the organization after five years to serve as the new CEO of The Bridge of Southern New Mexico in Las Cruces.

“We are sad to see Beth leave, but are very excited for her and her new opportunity,” BBBS’ board president, Cory Leiferman, stated in the release. “We are happy to welcome Rose Ann to the team and look forward to continuing to grow the program in the years to come.”

A Las Cruces native, Vasquez starts with 30 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector, the organization said, with a master’s degree in government from New Mexico State University. She has previously led the LC3 Behavioral Health Collaborative and is a former operations manager and community organizer with New Mexico Comunidades en Acción y de Fé (aka NM CAFÉ). She has is also a former volunteer director for Mesilla Valley Hospice and serves as parent representative for the Success Partnership, an early childhood coalition with Ngage New Mexico and other initiatives.

Sustained by volunteers and donations, Big Brothers Big Sisters is a one-to-one youth mentoring program with a mission to build and support individual relationships to promote the flourishing of youth. More information, including how to become a mentor or donor, is available at 575-523-9530.
