Chile Drop a New Year’s Eve spectacle

Posted

As president of the Downtown Las Cruces Partnership, I am thrilled to share the excitement surrounding our upcoming New Year's Eve event, the renowned Chile Drop. This free family celebration has become a cherished tradition, and this year promises to be more spectacular than ever.

Featuring a lively midway, the soulful tunes of the Memphis Band on the Roberto Estrada Pavilion, the presence of local TV and radio personalities, and a DJ to keep the energy high, the Chile Drop has something for everyone. It's a testament to our community spirit and the joy of coming together to welcome a new year.  Thank you for your support, for your donations and for promoting our organization and our districts.  We hope you will continue to do so into 2024 and beyond.

In a moment that fills us with gratitude and immense pride, our own Chile Drop event has been nominated as one of USA Today's 20 Best New Year’s Eve Drops. This national recognition is a reflection of the dedication and enthusiasm of our community members who make this event a success year after year.

Adding to the excitement, CNN will be joining us to broadcast live cut-ins for the entire country and the world. It's an honor to have our magical New Year's Eve celebration showcased on a national and international stage.  We can't wait for the nation to witness the vibrancy and spirit of Las Cruces.

As we gather with friends and family to say farewell to the old and welcome the new, let the Chile Drop be a symbol of unity, joy and hope. Together, we create memories that resonate far beyond our city limits. Here's to a memorable New Year's Eve and a fantastic year ahead.

All the Chile Drop excitement happens on Plaza de Las Cruces starting December 31, 2023, at 8 p.m. and we celebrate until the Chile drops at midnight. Come shop, dine and celebrate.

John Muñoz is the board president of the nonprofit Downtown Las Cruces Partnership.
