County clerk’s office hosts election training sessions

The Doña Ana County Clerk’s Office will host training sessions for election officials for the Nov. 7, 2023 regular local election at the Doña Ana County Government Center, 845 N. Motel Blvd., beginning Oct. 3.

The training sessions are

  • Early voting training: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3; Wednesdays, Oct. 4 and 11, and Friday, Oct. 13.
  • Election Day training: 10: 30 a.m.: Saturdays, Oct. 7, and 28; 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16; Wednesday, Oct. 18; Friday, Oct. 20; Tuesday, Oct. 24; Thursday, Oct. 26; Wednesday, Nov. 1; and Friday, Nov. 3 – if needed.

During the trainings, which are open to the public, election officials will receive training in opening and closing the polls, setting up voting equipment and issuing ballots. The clerk’s office also will host training

sessions for watchers for the election. State law requires watchers to attend a training session prior to accepting an appointment for an election, the clerk’s office said in a news release.

Training sessions for watchers will be held at 3 p.m. Thursdays Oct. 5 and 19, and Nov. 2; 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14; and 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23.

Voters may register, update voter registrations or apply for absentee ballots at NMVote.org.

Election Day is November 7, 2023.
