Crash near Hatch kills two over Fourth of July weekend

Posted

Two people are dead following a fatal crash on Interstate 25 near the Hatch exit, according to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.

DPS said two vehicles – including a semi-truck – wrecked on I-25 near Hatch on July 4, killing two and injuring two more. The cause of the wreck remains unknown, and the victims have not been identified.

However, one of the victims has been identified as Lucas Miller via public fundraising efforts. According to a GoFundMe page, Miller and another traveled north of Las Cruces when the crash occurred.

The page described Miller as an upstanding young man who recently graduated from Las Cruces High School and was preparing to attend NMSU with a scholarship.

“Lucas was a talented and happy kid and on a path of success,” the page said.
