Posted

It’s not often Las Cruces High School enters the annual Bulldawg-Trojan showdown looking for its first victory, but that will be the case 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, at the Field of Dreams.

The Mayfield High School Trojans enter the game 2-1, but are coming off a 42-0 spanking at the hands of Centennial High School Sept. 9. Las Cruces also had a tough game last week, falling 42-13  to No. 1-ranked Cleveland on the road in Rio Rancho Sept. 8.

Despite being winless at 0-4, LCHS is ranked 10th in Class 6A, while Mayfield is ranked 6th in Class 5A.

The Bulldawgs won the 2022 matchup 35-7.

Centennial has a bye Sept. 15, but will play Organ Mountain High School Friday, Sept. 22. Ranked No. 2 in Class 6A.

Organ Mountain (0-4) lost to Rio Rancho 34-7 Sept. 9. They travel to Anthony for a Sept. 15 non-district game against Gadsden, a 5A District 3 team that is 3-1 on the year.

Mesilla Valley Christian (2-1) defeated Menaul 46-18 on the road and will play Logan (3-1) at home 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16.
