Expect nighttime road closures for bridge testing

Posted

If you’re planning to travel in and around the intersection of Main Street and University Avenue the next few days, you’d better check your watch before you go.

From 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Wednesday, Nov. 15, through at least Monday, Nov. 20, there will be closures in place.

The New Mexico Department of Transportation District One office will conduct overnight roadway closures for testing on the Interstate 10 bridge that goes over University and Main.
The testing is being done to maintain the integrity of the bridge.
The planned overnight closures are in place to lessen the impact on travelers. NMDOT apologizes for the inconvenience and thanks motorists for their patience.
Nightly impacts to roadways include:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 15: Full closure of University Avenue.
  • Thursday, Nov. 16: Full closures of northbound Main Street and westbound University Avenue.
  • Friday, Nov. 17: Full closure of northbound Main Street.
  • Saturday, Nov. 18: Full closure of northbound Main Street.
  • Sunday, Nov. 19: Shifting closures. 9 p.m. full closure of westbound I-10 with a possible University Avenue closure. 11 p.m. full closure of eastbound I-10 with a possible Main Street and University Ave. closure.
  • Monday, Nov. 20: Full closure of northbound Main Street with possible closure on University Avenue.

All closures are subject to change and weather pending.
